Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme

The Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme is an initiative of the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra. Only permanent residents of Maharashtra who are destitute, elderly, orphans, disabled, widows, transgender individuals, etc., are eligible to apply for this scheme. Under this scheme, beneficiaries receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from December 2024.

Application Process:

  1. Step 1: Visit the Sanjay Gandhi Scheme Department, Tehsil Office, District Collector Office, or Talathi Office to understand the eligibility criteria.
  2. Step 2: Fill out the application form, affix a passport-size photo, and attach all mandatory (self-attested) documents.
  3. Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with documents online through Setu Centers, Maha E-Seva Centers, or Aaple Sarkar Portal.
  4. Step 4: Obtain a receipt/acknowledgment of successful submission.

1. Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 99065 )

 Eligibility:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Maharashtra for at least 15 years.
  • Age: Below 65 years.
  • Annual Family Income:
    • Must be listed under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category or have an annual income of up to ₹21,000 (₹50,000 for disabled individuals).

Eligible Beneficiaries:

  • Destitute men and women below 65 years.
  • Orphaned children.
  • Persons with disabilities (PWD).
  • Individuals suffering from severe illnesses such as tuberculosis, cancer, AIDS, leprosy, sickle cell anemia, etc., who are unable to support themselves.
  • Destitute widows (including widows of farmers who committed suicide).
  • Women undergoing divorce proceedings or divorced women without alimony.
  • Abused women and those rescued from prostitution.
  • Transgender individuals, Devadasis, and unmarried women above 35 years.
  • Wives of prisoners serving jail sentences.

Required Documents:

  • Proof of Age: Birth certificate issued by Gram Panchayat/Municipal Corporation, Transfer Certificate (TC), Ration Card, Voter List extract, Aadhaar Card, or age certificate from a government medical officer (any one).
  • Residential Proof: Certificate issued by Gram Sevak/Talathi/Mandal Officer or a domicile certificate issued by a court.
  • Income Proof: Certificate from the Tehsildar/Sub-Divisional Officer or proof of BPL status.
  • Medical Certificate: Disability, illness, transgender, or physical abuse certificate issued by a Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent from a government hospital.
  • Orphan Certificate: Issued by Gram Sevak/Chief Officer/Ward Officer and certified by Group Development Officer/Project Officer, Integrated Child Development Scheme.
  • Bank Details: Xerox of the first page of the bank passbook showing the bank name, address, and IFSC code.
  • Aadhaar Card: Updated and linked to a bank account.
  • Marriage Certificate & Death Certificate of Spouse (for widow applicants).

Benefits:

  • ₹1,500 per month.

2. Shravanbal Retirement Pension Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 183687 )

  • Age: Above 65 years.
  • Annual Family Income: As per the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme criteria.
  • Proof of Age: Any one document as mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Residential Proof: As mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Benefits: ₹1,500 per month.

3. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 46187 )

  • Age: Above 65 years.
  • Annual Family Income: Must be listed under the BPL category.
  • Proof of Age: Any one document as mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Residential Proof: As mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Benefits: ₹1,500 per month (₹200–₹500 from the Central Government, remaining amount from the State Government).

4. Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 2637 )

  • Age: 40–79 years.
  • Required Documents:
    • Death Certificate of the husband (certified extract from Birth/Death Register).
    • Annual family income proof (Must be listed under the BPL category).
    • Any one proof of age as mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
    • Residential Proof: As mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Benefits: ₹1,500 per month (₹300 from the Central Government, ₹1,200 from the State Government).

5. Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 384 )

  • Age: 40–79 years.
  • Disability Certificate: Issued by the District Surgeon (Civil Surgeon).
  • Annual Family Income: Must be listed under the BPL category.
  • Proof of Age: Any one document as mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Residential Proof: As mentioned in the Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Pension Scheme.
  • Benefits: ₹1,500 per month (₹300 from the Central Government, ₹1,200 from the State Government).

6. National Family Benefit Scheme ( No. of  Beneficiaries 1275 )

  • If the earning member of a family Death, the family is eligible for this scheme. The deceased can be male or female.
  • Age of Deceased: Between 18 to 60 years.
  • Annual Family Income: Must be listed under the BPL category.
  • Application Process: Concerned Talathi will verify documents and forward the application to the Tehsil Office. The Tehsildar is authorized to approve cases under the Sanjay Gandhi Scheme.
  • Benefit: One-time financial assistance of ₹20,000 to the legal heir of the deceased.

Mentally challenged disabled, incapable helpless, BPL (Below Poverty Line), Old Age Personal

Benefits:

₹1,500 per month (DBT)
