How to Reach Melghat Tiger Project

Melghat is approachable by Road, Rail and Air (nearest airport- Nagpur). Semadoh is the main centre from tourist point of view. Kolkas eco- tourism complex is situated Narnala Sanctuary (base camp – Shahnur in Akot district) is another tourist centre of the Melghat Tiger Reserve where you can enjoy Jungle Safari as well as visit a fortress built probably 600 years.

Harisal is a digital village located 25kms from Semadoh towards Indore on Maharashtra State Highway no. 6.

Chikhaldara is a hill station and a famous tourist place in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and another important gateway to Melghat Tiger Reserve. It has many private owned hotels & resorts and has a jungle safari gate commonly known as Vairat.

How do you reach these destinations?

By Railway

For Chikhaldara/Semadoh/Kolkas/ Harisal- Alight at Badnera Junction (10Km) from Amravati on Mumbai – Nagpur – Kolkata route.

By Air:

Nearest airport is Nagpur which is connected by daily flights from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Raipur, Indore, Pune, etc.

By Road:

Nagpur to Amaravati (160 km). Amravati to Paratwada (50 km.). Paratwada to Semadoh (45 km.)

Kolkas

Situated 13kms further from Semadoh towards Harisal on state highway no. 6 is the famous Kolkas Eco Tourism centre. It has 7 cottages (twin sharing), 2 nos. Forest Rest house rooms, 18 beds dormitory run by the Forest Department.

Vairat/Chikhaldara-

Vairat Jungle Safari- Along with many scenic points and Gavilgadh fort Chikhaldara has a jungle safari access on the Vairat plateau which is arguably one of the highest points in Central India for any jungle safari. Safaris can be booked online or on spot at the Nature Interpretation Centre based right in the heart of Chikhaldara town.  Amravati to Paratwada (50 km.). Paratwada to Chikhaldara (32 km.).

Harisal-

Harisal village is on Maharashtra State Highway no.6 and is a gateway to jungle safaris from Harisal gate, night safari activities, full day tourism activities, machaan activities and adventure activities.
