Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Dist. Amravati

Amravati district comprises a total of 14 talukas, out of which Chikhaldara and Dharni are predominantly tribal talukas. These talukas have a large number of laborers, with 89,435 families from Melghat (Chikhaldara and Dharni) out of the total 4,68,162 job cardholder families in the district. For these families, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has proven to be highly beneficial. Through this scheme, a significant number of public and individual development works have been carried out in Amravati district, directly benefiting the local villages and residents. Out of the 266 approved works under MGNREGS, approximately 60 to 65 types of projects are regularly implemented in Amravati district. The district has consistently remained at the forefront in ensuring employment for laborers and utilizing funds effectively across the state.
